Wow, Long Time

Wow, it has been since 2011...since I wrote a post to this blog.  It almost feels like I should start all over.  Robb and I have just finished listening to Conference.  It was quite tricky because we watched and listened to it on our computers and cell phones.  We stopped DirecTV in February--suspended service for six months to give us a break...ha ha ha, now we watch more Netflix.  I think I like conference on TV better than on our computers or cell phones.  Next October, will watch in on TV.  It seems funny since when we first moved to Idaho, we did not get the broadcast.  I grew up with the conference broadcast because in Fredonia, we got KSL.  I missed it for several years and it felt like we were left out.  We got the Ensign with the talks but that was a month after Conference was over.  Now we have a choice on how we want to watch Conference, an yet I complain because we had it on our cell phones and computers, not TV.   We are a spoiled couple.

Priesthood session took on a new meaning last night for Robb.  Since he was ordained a deacon, he has attended Priesthood session with is father and brothers.  When Robbie reached age 12, he and Robb attended the Priesthood session together.  This tradition to go with Robbie has been going for about 20 years and last night was one of the few times Robb did not go with Robbie.  I think it was sad for Robb to go alone.  Last night, I stayed home instead of going to Deseret Book, which I have gone to for several years with my daughters.  Deseret Book called it "Ladies Night" because all the men attended Priesthood.  I remember one time when a woman and her husband came to Deseret Book on "Ladies' Night."  He wondered if he could come in and we welcomed him and explained what the tradition was.  I don't think he came back to another "Ladies' Night."  Either he was embarrassed that he was not attending conference or he did not want to be included with all the giggly and fun loving women waiting to hear their names being drawn for prizes.

General Conference was great. I will need to read or review each talk to make sure I got the full message.  Once conference was finished, I said to Robb, now we will need to listen to the commentators to find out what each person said like they do in political and sports broadcasts.  Thank goodness we do not have to have someone else explain what was said as each were so clear and we have study the talks for ourselves instead of have someone interpret for us.  I love the Gospel and the plains truths therein.

Since last year is already past and 2013 is 1/4 of the way through, you can imagine that there has been a lot happening.  I am still working at the Human Rights Commission, thank heaven.  Robb is no longer with Olsen and Company as he was let go in January 2013.  He has been trying to locate a job to keep himself busy but I like him being home so we do not have to wait for him to get off work to leave town.  His schedule is much more flexible.  We have had to cut back on expenses and we are careful with our money more now and before.

We just moved Robbie and his family to Albuquerque, New Mexico for a job.  Tracy and Robbie had another baby in the last year, Lily, who is just as cute as Zoey.  We have four grandchildren now and they all live hours away from Boise.  I wish they lived closer.  We have cell phone, text messaging, Facebook and other devises to stay in touch more than when I left my   family in Fredonia. We had letters and telephones back then.  AND, we had to be careful about our long distance telephone bills.  The world has changed and the computer/interest age has made communications much easier.

I will need to upload some photos of the family.  well, there isBIG thunder and lightning out side with hail stones.  It is pretty and I love the thunder but the family next door (west side) was trying to have a backyard wedding today and the decorations have all wilted with the water and the back drop has been blown down.  I feel bad  for them.  I wish we had something to help them.
